How it works
What is the eden climate project?
The Eden Climate Project is a religious effort to reforest the earth in response to climate change. Trees are the Earth's best method of sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and decreasing greenhouse gas concentration. Natural climate solutions like reforestation and forest management can provide over one-third of the climate change mitigation needed to stabilize the planet's warming below 2°C by 2030 as planned by the Paris Climate Agreement and reduce carbon output by an estimated 23.8 billion tons each year. Overall, planting trees is a vital and cost-effective way to directly help improve the world we all share.
50,000 trees seems like a lot - how is this going to be accomplished?
We're glad you asked. 50,000 trees is a big goal, and it can only be accomplished with your help. Protecting God's creation is worth the effort. Future generations depend upon the stable, healthy forest ecosystems that are vital for the health of the entire planet. Founded in 1993, the National Religious Partnership for the Environment has the means and experience to build strategic partnerships with other organizations and meet this important goal.
How much does it cost to plant one tree?
We are committed to planting at least one tree for every dollar raised through the Eden Climate Project. Through our partnerships with The Nature Conservancy, American Forests, and Eden Reforestation Projects, we will be planting trees in U.S. national forests, in urban areas, and in countries like Haiti and Indonesia, where crucial reforestation projects are under way. The cost of planting one tree ranges from less than $1 to upwards of $25, depending on the location and type of tree being planted.
How does the eden climate project affect me?
God created forests to sustain all life on earth. Trees cool the planet by sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, clean the air we breathe and the water we drink, provide shade, and create homes for thousands of species. By supporting the Eden Climate Project, you are responding to God's command in Genesis 2:15, and contributing to the health of people around the world.
